  1. A Brief History of the Monthly ManSpirit Potluck Brunches
    by John Jack

I don't remember how I came to attend these monthly meetings. Probably, I learned about them from word-of-mouth at the Center for Spiritual Living - Santa Rosa. The earliest meetings were held at the home of Roger V. under his huge, old oak tree. The earliest meetings were sparsely attended, sometimes only two or three men present. All of the men who came had been to the ManSpirit Fall Retreat and as such were not strangers to each other. But gradually the regulars began bringing friends from both inside and outside of the Center. It's amazing and delightful to observe how quickly the "newcomers" sized up the nature and intent of the meeting and felt at home there. Some even shared their experiences and feelings on their first visit. It quickly became apparent that there would be no "cross talk". Empathy was expressed more as silent acceptance than comments or questions to the speaker.
ManSpirit Brunches are held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 to roughly 12:30, usually at the home of a volunteer "host". The number of attending remains fairly constant, since most men have work or family commitments that conflict with Saturday meeting times. But the depth of connection, spirituality, and the healing are steadily - amazingly - deepening.

  2. On First Saturday in April 2014 we chanted the Gayatri Mantra 108 times. It was something awesome. Thanks Art for hosting us in your home.
